2nd March 2007 - The Studio, Hartlepool

And so another new bassist plays his first proper gig with us. Asa had had a warm up gig in front of a family crowd at a private function a few weeks before in Cleethorpes but this was his first "proper" gig. As such we ribbed him endlessly in an effort to break his already frayed nerves . Truth be told though, he rose to the occasion superbly. He made a bit of a cock-up in Square One to be honest, but everyone can forgive him that, especially considering he'd never played an instrument in his life before picking up the bass to play with us. The look on his face though during Square One was a bit concerning and we were worried it was gonna get to him but no, Politik proved to be the perfect tonic and he strolled through it without a single mistake and that set him up for the rest of the gig during which he produced bass playing worthy of the man he succeeded.

He couldn't have hand-picked a better gig to start with though. The venue was excellent, the sound exceptionally good (right up there with The Limelight and Mr Kyps) and the lighting superb too. The venue was almost full and they were well up for making some noise and joining in. A very receptive crowd. An excellent gig, one we really enjoyed and we were delighted with Asa's performance! Well come aboard Asa!
