I didn't have a clock with me in my bedroom so, upon hearing everyone else up and about, figured it was at least 10am so I got up too. Curse the others for having kids and being used to early mornings - 8am was a lay in for them! Everyone deemed it too early for our planned fry up so we went for a kick about instead. On a lumpy field. In the rain. And very strong winds. It proved too windy in fact for headers and volleys so we had to satisfy ourselves with penalties, free kicks and run ups. An hour or so later we'd worked up an appetite so we went and made our fry up - the benefits of having a kitchen in our digs! That's a first :) Once again Mark proved that nothing was too much trouble for him - he rang us up to see how we were and to go through the evening's gig times, set up times etc and upon being asked if everything was ok for us Shane mentioned the PS3 didn't work on the telly. So he gave the owner of the cottage a call and half an hour later she arrived to help us sort it out. Which resulted in us swapping the TV for a spare one from her garage. Bloody thing didn't work on that either though :( So after breakfast we headed on in to Douglas to go buy a new scart lead in case it was that. I needed a new snare skin anyway, so we sorted that out too.
The Centenary Centre in Peel had been kind enough to let us leave our gear overnight in the venue, so we headed on over there to pick up our gear after Douglas and then headed over to the venue in Laxey where we were playing that night - the football club's clubhouse. A tiny venue, capacity 60 people, standing only, it promised to be a nicely packed gig. We'd arrived there around 4pm so we had a nice stress free set up with plenty of time. We were using our own PA and Mark's son, Jamie, had kindly offered to mix for us, which relieved us of the burden and allowed for on the fly mixing during the gig, which is something that is sorely lacking when you mix yourself as you can't get out in front of the PA to check the front of house sound. After sound check we went back to the cottage, seeing as it was only in Laxey anyway, 5 minutes up the road. First things first, we checked the new scart lead out but alas, still no Ps3 :( Rachel, the owner of the cottage, had also brought us a fairly new flat panel TV as well, but it didn't work on that either. So three TVs, 2 scart leads later and the thing still wasn't working. We could only presume the PS3 hadn't been pleased about the journey - Shane was gutted, thought his Ps3 was broke.
Back to the venue for half 8, about half of the crowd had turned up and Mark went on to play a few numbers to warm the crowd up. With just guitar and his voice, he played Chasing Cars, We Can Work It Out, a tune I didn't recognise and David Gray's Babylon. A fantastic voice and excellent guitaring, we really enjoyed his set. We delayed the start of the gig by 15 minutes or so as not all of the people who'd bought tickets had turned up - too busy in the pub down the road I think, but they duly arrived and by half 9 we were launching into Square One.
The gig was superb, with the band playing even better than the night before, Jamie doing a cracking job on the monitor mix and front of house mix and Asa doing a great job on the lights. We played almost the same set as the night before but threw in Low as an extra song as we'd missed it out the night before. The crowd were superb, dancing and singing right the way through the set, Clocks going down the best I think, with the entire room dark except for the lasers. We got a raptuous applause after The Scientist and screams for more, which, of course, we gave them. Talk, In My Place and Fix You once again. That wasn't enough for them though and we finished off with Everything's Not Lost. It's a great sing-a-long tune that one, even if you don't know the "come on yeah, everything's not lost" it's really easy to pick up on. Still the crowd weren't sated, so we had a bit of jam session, a bit of Oasis, The Verve and such stuff, before Mark joined the stage to do a duet with Shane of Chasing Cars and one or two other numbers.
Another fantastic night, the crowd were superb even though they numbered less than half the night before. With it being such a small room and everyone standing rather than sat, it made for a really good atmosphere. As with the night before, everyone was very friendly after the gig, bought us numerous drinks and chatted to us all at great length until the early hours of the morning.
